Previously I compared #AppleMaps to #OpenStreetMap in Latvia.

Ended up on #GoogleMaps from a website, and it didn't seem to depict reality. Had to compare it with OSM.

Missing major buildings, roads. Incorrect roads (NE one is a mostly a path). And that's ignoring all the detail, available in OSM.

Oh, and that "bar" on the left in Google Maps? That's a spam entry, advertising bar services for events.

I hadn't really looked at #GoogleMaps for years.

This makes me so much more proud about what we have at #OpenStreetMap :)

Even places that do not seem completely bare in #GoogleMaps look... very much lacking after checking in #OpenStreetMap.

Show your friends the beautiful data of OSM via all the mobile applications and other solutions.

Now I understand why delivery services have a hard time finding things. Or why people often get lost when using #GoogleMaps on foot.

Whenever I catch a glimpse of GoogleMaps, I take a closer look and go "THAT'S NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE".

If you haven't tried anything but Google Maps, go ahead and check out Organic Maps, OsmAnd. Anything amiss, you are not powerless - the map can be updated by anybody.

#OpenStreetMap

Mapped some shops and other entities in a marketplace on #OpenStreetMap.
Some sellers might be still missing, which is a bit of a concern for the pedantic me.
Wondering whether #GoogleMaps has them all...

HAHA, no :D
It's hilariously bad. Barely any entities present. The ones that are, have incorrect positioning.

OpenStreetMap is a wonderful dataset, and one that we all can make better every day.

Got asked today about navigating someplace with Google Maps.

First image - OpenStreetMap.
Second - GMaps of the same region.

First, there's a massive difference in the amount of available information.
Second is one housename... in two different locations.

Thank you to all the OSM contributors for creating such a wonderful, worldwide map.

#OpenStreetMap #GoogleMaps

Continuing the series...
Accidentally saw Google Maps, could barely recognise the place.

Feeling proud about OpenStreetMap again. It's not perfect, but damn, so much better than GMaps.

Especially in the second pair of pics - what's going on, why is that corner building all rotated?

#OpenStreetMap #GoogleMaps

Another case of opening Google Maps, another case of being amazed.

#OpenStreetMap #GoogleMaps

How many problems can you spot in Google Maps here?

Omissions would also be a decent number.

#OpenStreetMap #GoogleMaps

Google Maps vs OpenStreetMap, take n.
