One hard thing about detecting AI usage is that it's not all or nothing. You can provide reference images for an AI to use. Also, AI can be used to denoise and upscale an image, leading to small scale issues that look like the funky lines in the maze.
But Gruber was wrong about the two suspicions he mentioned, as you've confirmed. (Ugh, this gif doesn't work correctly in the app)
