Remember when DOGE cut all those adobe pro licenses?

You know what feature that contains?

PDF redactions.

#USPol

@countablenewt what does adobe have to do with redacting? Unless, of course, there was intelligence operation that was leaked. The best way to redact is just not to put it in at alll
@adisonverlice @countablenewt adobe makes a PDF editor

@RealGlob @countablenewt i amware that they make PDF readers, I don't get why the USG would need to use them. There are open source PDF editors.

Though technically speeking, there are PDF readers built into all devices nowadays, such as notepad on windows, and nano on Linux.
So I don't see why the government would need Adobe for PDF needs

@adisonverlice @RealGlob @countablenewt Adobe’s PDF editing/creation tools have been considered gold standard within USG for years… pro licensing specifically includes access to Adobe supported redaction features that other implementations may not have / meet agency standards / requires a support contract that OSS implementations don’t offer by nature
@adisonverlice @RealGlob @countablenewt This must be your first time hearing of the US government. Get ready for some truly silly surprises
