I've iterated on ametameric, a 16 color system/#terminal palette - which optimizes properties we all need in a default scheme; contrast between all color pairs - while keeping colors distinct, for the different types of color vision deficiencies as well as contrast surviving grayscale conversion.

A major part of verifying results for the ametameric terminal palette optimiztion is this visualization of all color pairs as crossings both in full trichromatic color and for the three classes of full dichromacy, with additional CIE Lab Δe color differences and visualizations for the four worst pairs. On the website the same visualization can be seen for other common 16 color terminal schemes.
