Ooh! A (relatively) new album by post-punkers Lathe Of Heaven https://latheofheaven.bandcamp.com/album/aurora
Just heard a song on #BagelRadio, which btw is a great web-radio if you like punk, indie-, garage-rock, etc. https://www.bagelradio.com/

But why didn't I get an email from Bandcamp about this? It's a scandal! I remember when BC had RSS-feeds for every artist and label page, rather than to rely on guessing "did I subscribe to this artist or not?" (I don't have a Bandcamp account, perhaps that would make it easier?)

It seems I can't even follow an artist on Bandcamp without an account, unless I purchase something of course, but if I missed subscribing when purchasing I'm out of luck.

@desolationpark I made an account on Bandcamp to have easier access to things I'd bought. I regret it. More spam to unsubscribe from, no way to hide my profile/collection (albums can be hidden individually, but you'd have to remember to do so after every purchase).

Personally I prefer to check artists/labels' pages when I'm in the mood for their sort of music and want to find more. If I'm notified of a new release when I'm not in the mood for it, I'll just ignore it and forget about it.

@eishiya Ah, the "visible collection" was one thing that made me reluctant to get an account, thanks for mentioning it. Not that I buy embarrassing stuff (or do I? you'll never know...), but just the idea that sharing everything with the world by default puts me off.
Also I don't like having hundreds of accounts to keep track of.

@desolationpark Aye. I think my collection is cool, but I that doesn't mean I want it out there for everyone to see. When I buy physical discs, I don't stick the covers to my front door.

The fact that there's no privacy-first option puts me off from using Bandcamp at all.
Edit: There's an option to delete the account, I wonder how that'll affect my purchases...
Edit 2: Screw it, deleted.

@eishiya I'm not sure what will happen if you actually had an account, but I just tried to re-download something I bought long ago (I save all the receipt-emails), and I merely had to enter the email-address I used and I got a working download link. So they have all purchases on register connected with the email-address.

@desolationpark Aye, I just wouldn't be surprised if deleting an account also cleared that data. Guess I'll find out if I ever have to redownload something.

Downloading from Bandcamp sucks too. I have a crappy connection, and their download links only work for a brief window, so if I can't download (with breaks and resumes) the entire album in that time, I have to request a new link and start completely over. Most other services I use (e.g. itch.io) let me resume as much as I need :/
