@artemis I think the globals change is really good, but I'm just surprised to see it added now

like ... obviously it's very beneficial, and it doesn't look like it would be difficult... so I just assumed that the reason it wasn't included in an earlier version was that the devs had some ideological objection to it or something; like surely it would have landed before now if it was just a matter of getting around to it?
