I've started listening to that Audiobook i bought. And @pluralistic 's recounting of the enshitification of Facebook is... epic. Highly recommend. #enshitification

Approximately 8 weeks left on my Libby hold, I might end up using one of my Libro.fm credits and buy it to listen over winter break. I’d love to get a hard copy at some point.

@justforfun

I have cards w/ five libraries for Libby holds. . . .it helps w/ those long wait lists

@justforfun @pluralistic Well, step 1 i guess, thanks for the reminder, id meant to look into libro.fm, and now I have. Audible cancelled. I hope "The End" book store in Allentown appreciates my decision.
@gangrif @pluralistic
I’m sure they’d love will. I checked with the owners of the indie store that I designated through Libra.fm and bookshop.org and the do get from 300-1500 a month, not sure what the average is. Another store owner said that they also appreciate free and early access to some books for review purposes for all their staff.
@gangrif The Facebook case study is so succinct and spot on. Proud to have never had a personal Facebook account only burners for client development integration. Ditched Intragram when acquired. Done with Xitter and considering ditching Apple and Google. Eventually I want all this replaced by FOSS from trusted sources.
@brianbuck Yea i unfortunately fell into the facebook trap years ago. But these days it's not on my phone, only checked occasionally via the web. Apple and google are bigger fish. not sure how i'd go without them without some serious reworking of my and my family's devices.
