If you like it, do join in
If you don’t, please feel free to offer me criticism and a volley of abuse cos that’s generally considered helpful
Anyway, gonna be a series of tunes based around what’s generally considered balearic
#SundayGoesBalearic
First up we have this beautiful rework of Billy Swan’s cover of the Elvis classic “Don’t Be Cruel” by singer, songwriter BJ Smith on the NuNorthern Soul label. Ben’s a busy boy what with playing guitar in Crazy P’s James Barron’s JIM band as well as collaborating in projects with Bison, Smith and Mudd and releasing a new album with White Elephant in the New Year.
Grab a beverage of your choice and let this wash over you!

Now we’re into forgotten B sides.
This little beauty can be found lurking on Haircut One Hundred’s 1984 single “Two Up Two Down” which peaked at 125 in the UK chart and marked the end of their singles releases until last year.
If you’re aware of their 80’s work, it is not what you might expect.
If you don’t fall in love with this then I’d suggest this thread may not be for you 😀
Final call for #SundayGoesBalearic
Nobody really knows what the term “Balearic” means regarding music it’s more a feeling than a defineable thing.
This John Cale/Brian Eno colab has all the ingredients for me.
The lyrics painting pictures of pencils turning moments into lines and that gorgeous chugging backbeat driving you to far away places.
Spinning Away into the new week….
