Ok I think it’s kiln time. #pottery #ceramics
Oops not yet, still a little hot. 150 F
If it’s gonna ping it’s gonna ping
Looks like hit a solid 6 on top #ceramics #pottery #holidayKilnOpening
Well kitten clear apparently does not need two coats

This is fine; happy with carvings, glaze pretty good. A worthy Xmas gift for MIL.

Note this is cinco blanco clay and pinging like heck. The other bowls are b mix and are not. Beginning to think cinco blanco just is terrible

@3janeTA I hate that pinging. Sigh.
@LJ right now it’s just that darn white clay I’ve been fighting with!
@3janeTA I'm trying to convince our studio to replace our bmix with a white that has a lower absorption rate, but I dread trying to find one that fits all our glazes.
@LJ my bmix is doing way better than the white I have and I’ve always loved it.
@3janeTA I'm seeing a lot of late crazing with bmix. Typically after a year of use. My thinking is it's absorbing tiny amounts of water in the dishwasher over time & making the clay expand. My favorite clay is 90, but it's brown & not great for using underglazes with. But it has such a low absorption rate that it never shows late crazing.
@LJ if I had a good white slip I’d flip and use brown clay with white in top but also that sounds ridiculous. But this sgraffito thing and majolica are kind of my space. I’m not as much into cone 10 earthy glaze effects anymore.
@LJ I do have some crazing with the bmix it’s just so much less!
@LJ I thought there would be challenges getting my home studio going but did not anticipate glaze fit/low COE clay body to be the foremost!
