I don’t understand the first two.

The first one is because at least on Mint, on the machine I have, multiple monitors just don't work, and I've been told it's not just me, it's X11. The second is the need for Wine or Bottles (or whatever Valve has done).

Idk, I have multiple monitors on mint and it works just fine, even when I had three monitors connected it was easy to do pretty much anything in the settings, and anything else was just a simple xrandr command.
