Okay, I feel silly for JUST NOW figuring this out: the reason why it's so hard to tell the difference between real and AI music, is because almost all of the real stuff uses autotune to some extent (unless it's live, obviously), and good AI music sounds like good autotune.

EDIT: I mean "good" objectively, meaning it passes for real even though it's fake. Doesn't mean I like it; means it's convincing.
