Back in 2005 I tried to legitimately put up this billboard. When The Sun found out they contacted the billboard owner & got it cancelled. And then they made sure no one would ever see my sick propaganda by printing it full colour and half a page of a national newspaper

I eventually put it up a few months later.

You can get xmas cards of the finished billboard and other horrible designs from my website shop

SPELLING MISTAKES COST LIVES
@spellingmistakescostlives Some heavy Streisand effect vibes coming through there!
@spellingmistakescostlives ah, like that scene in the Hogfather when death has it explained to him why he can’t give the poor kid a puppy, even though the rich ones get lots? #gnuterryPratchett
@spellingmistakescostlives The fucking
"The Sun saves Santa" lmfao
@spellingmistakescostlives as an artist I would feature this whole story in my portfolio
@spellingmistakescostlives isn't the freedom of the press pretty much freedom of speech? Seems like they were being hypocritical as well as Streisandy!

@spellingmistakescostlives 'Loving' this move by The Sun, they completely fail to actually prevent people from seeing the billboard, in fact they are the ones distributing it, but they still claim credit for cancelling it.

It reminds me a bit of this fandom thing where someone will make a callout post about some "awful, problematic" artists and it's like, thank you, I might not have known about this cool artist and their dope art if you hadn't told me about them.

I think what's really going on here is refusing to let artists display art on their own term, it has to be repurposed into proof of their own moral superiority, it's all a powerplay.

@spellingmistakescostlives@mastodon
Wait, this is them TRYING TO HIDE THE AD?
This can't be even Streissand effect, the publishers are the ones who are trying to hide it?

I literally cannot even nor odd rn lmao

@spellingmistakescostlives finally some truth in advertising!

This is essentially what i began telling our kids as it became more and more difficult for me to remain employed: "Santa doesn't visit poor people. That's how he's able to finish in one night."
