It’s a funny feeling to be pointed out as the new idiots in town by the progressives. Wondering who is next
We knew Kast would win, the terrifying part is that he got almost 60% of the votes. My hopes were on a smaller difference. So now people is wondering how much of this result is due to the current situation and how much is due to a cultural switch 😬
One thing that in particular makes me mad is the role of the press. Kast lied without impunity. Not a fucking journalist challenged him. In the last debate (which is not a debate), none of the about 10 journalists on stage called his bullshit when he said that 1 million 200 thousand Chileans have been murdered

The worst is that I want the country to do well, but I don’t want fascism to do well.

Some people would say there’s no conflict here because Kast is no fascist, which is funny, but I truly hope they are right

It’s “funny” to see the international press talking about the result 😵‍💫
At least Deutsche Welle in Spanish is covering Kast’s economic program, which is exactly what you think it is
Chile elects most right-wing leader since Pinochet – in line with regional drift, domestic tendency to punish incumbents

José Antonio Kast, who has run for the presidency several times, successfully seized on widespread dissatisfaction over issues like crime and immigration.

@RosaCtrl I mean, "Pinochet would have voted for me" is not so much a dog whistle as it is the fucking gjallarhorn... :/
@nyancient yeah but it’s not like Pinochet followers associate him to fascism, because the enemy is communism, and killing communists is OK
