"First of all, it seems like she’s well-educated. It seems like she’s — got a lot of energy. But she, to me, she violates the first rule of politics and that is in politics, you always make it about the voters and never about yourself,”

-Carville

Black people can read between these lines.

If you're still listening to Carville in 2025? Then you cannot be useful to Jasmine Crockett, yourself, or anyone else.

Just pay him a lot of money (again), lose your election (again), and go.

His opinion on 2025 politics is as useful as his opinion on UK drill rap: he doesn't even know what he's listening to!

So you can't really get mad at him for trying to map it to an era and genre that he does understand, and then giving weird takes as a result.

James Carville Says Jasmine Crockett Is Violating The 'First Rule Of Politics'

The longtime Democratic strategist knocked Crockett just days after she launched her U.S. Senate bid.

Aside:

As a kid, I would give people like Carville the old reverse "You are so well spoken." I'd drag the bit out for 10+ minutes.

👴🏻You are so well spoken!

👦🏿And *You* are so well spoken!

👴🏻Huh?

👦🏿Yes! Your speech! It's amazing! Each word, so clear! And your vocabulary is so good for a, umm for --

👴🏻English is my first language!

👦🏿Me too! But where did you learn to speak? Your sentence structure is phenomenal! The way you map ideas to speech is incredibly sophisticated for, um, your people!

👨🏼OK, we get it. That's enough. You've made your point.

👦🏿What point? Did I say something wrong?

👨🏼You're calling him racist.

👦🏿WHAT?!?! No! How did you get that from what I said? I didn't say the word racist once! You're jumping to conclusions! Not everything is racism. I'm just complimenting the man on his oratory skills and solid command of the English language! He talks like us!

@mekkaokereke I would have loved to have been a witness to such a moment! Thanks for sharing that “reversal”!
@mekkaokereke as always, the accusation of racism is apparently worse than the racism
@malicethegray @mekkaokereke What accusation? It's very hard to point to an accusation of racism in that exchange without revealing, you know, the racism that's being accused at the same time.
@ZDL yes i too understand the premise behind the bit
@mekkaokereke proof that you be a gem

@mekkaokereke Gonna swipe this for the next time someone calls me articulate.

*Edit*

Also, listening to the consultants/strategists like this Carville guy is why people have such negative opinions of the Dems. I hope Crockett tosses his opinions masquerading as advice in the trash where they belong.

@mekkaokereke I don't know who Carville is, but this "reversal" is GOLD.
@paraw @mekkaokereke He’s a goblin who worked for the Clinton administration a century ago.

@mekkaokereke

I know a black woman who has immigrated to Germany. And she still regularly encounters people who insist on talking to her in English.

Because obviously she couldn't possibly speak German. 😒

@mekkaokereke This is brilliant! I wish I could have thought of some way to reverse-exploit the gross "Asians are my fetish" crowd when I was young.
@mekkaokereke absolutely brilliant 👍😁
@mekkaokereke
This is why I felt self conscious the other day talking to a friend about James Baldwin. No, I don’t mean he’s articulate for a black person — Baldwin was articulate for a *human being*. The best I’ve ever heard speak extemporaneously.

@Voline

Yup.

It's good that you were conscious about it, but there is a *huge* difference between saying that Baldwin was a powerful speaker and writer, and saying "First of all, it seems like she’s well-educated🤡" when talking about Jasmine Crockett.

The fact that you were self-conscious means that you are aware of this difference, and didn't want to be misinterpreted as sounding like that. That's a very good thing! ♥️
