Generation X was right to label #yuppies as scum. what we failed to do was to clearly identify them as fascists and fight them as the corporatist waste of oxygen they are.

am going into my sixties with the battlecry, DEATH TO YUPPIES.

never ever believe the fascist lie that you can never get radicalized in old age. there’s always time to awaken from your gringo-manufactured stupor and fight #fascism.

@blogdiva I think it really muddied the waters when writers started using other terms as euphemisms like "hipster" (though I think that term has its own sinister connotations) and brogrammer/tech bro, as though the problem is confined to one industry.

@blogdiva

Because just living in the city, being young, and lucky enough to get a professional job, makes you scum.

Or is ther some other kind of yuppie and I did not get the memo.

Apparently I was a yuppie once but I was lucky to get older before the Yuppie Haters lynched me.

@blogdiva so true! I grew up in a union family in the 80s and have still managed to move even further left as I’ve aged. I laugh at everyone that told me I was only on the left because I was young and broke, so very wrong.
@blogdiva no offence but i literally spend 40 yrs & counting fighting yuppies/fash with my fellow genXers & i will do till i die

@blogdiva I've gone from being a liberal Republican in the late 1980s to being somewhere on the frontier between democratic socialism and anarcho-syndicalism. I've moved vastly left in 40 years.

Interestingly, I don't think my core beliefs have changed that much, but that anti-socialist propaganda they drummed into us is difficult to break out of!

@blogdiva I am in my 60s, and yuppies have always been scum.
@blogdiva My group called ourselves Yuffies - Young Urban Failures - in response to Yuppies.
@thrashcardiom @blogdiva Did you steal materia?
@dalias @blogdiva I have no idea what you are talking about.
@dalias @blogdiva Have looked it up now. I have never played FF so didn't get the reference.
