In the United States, more than twice as many people die in motor vehicle accidents as in the European Union

The EU population is 450 million people with an average density of 106 people/km2. The US is 350 million at 33 people/km2.

There are probably better metrics than straight density.

I think that’s also a big point, US is all urban sprawl, and that make it hard to build public transport.
Still, 80% of people in US live in urban areas. It’s easy to build public transport for them
Not in any way disagree with that sentiment at all, i’m just responding to the density comment and think urban sprawl is why the density is so low, making everything so far apart, making public transport hard to build, and making everyone impatient and drive fast, which causing so much death on the road. It’s all linked.
I think we’re dancing around the term “suburbs” here.
Because it’s different thing, urban sprawl is a way of expanding city and town in a low density, single zoning way, while suburb is simply a residential area right at the edge of city or town, but not spread out enough to be rural.
