The limits stem from a desire to prevent large donors from skirting caps on individual contributions to a candidate by directing unlimited sums to the party, with the understanding that the money will be spent on behalf of the candidate.

If people inside the US hadn’t voted for a fascist Nazi and others hadn’t continually allowed the centre-right to keep moving the needle then you wouldn’t have this problem either. It’s not the people with morals that are a problem in that dumpster fire, it’s the tens of millions of people who actively and aggressively support full-blown fascism. Trump should havd been a weird joke and left at that.

Since I don’t routinely hang around with stupid people, it’s easy to forget how profoundly stupid so many people are. Not just that they don’t know stuff, even though that’s a big factor as well. Just their ability to reason is toddler level. Like patrick in that meme with the wallet.
