I use nixos, but unfortunately have only debian level socks and upgrading them higher is....... lets say problematic

Can i convert debian system to nixos and continue using it while wearing knee high socks?..
I mean, i have absolutely nothing against proper leveled socks, but..... as i said... problematic, probably very problematic task
