Paul Simon's Graceland remains one of my favorite albums of all time.

The collaboration with all those Black South African musicians produced something that transcends even his usual songwriting genius.

Simon is an absolutely incredible lyricist (one of the true greats) & can write a lovely melody, but the added musical complexity & energy created something transcendent.

@artemis I was a teenager in the 90s and Johnny Clegg was all the rage in France, and I liked it. One day on some radio I heard the riff from "You Can Call Me Al" and it sounded so much like something Johnny Clegg would write that for more than a decade I was absolutely convinced it was a Johnny Clegg song, one that I just could not find anywhere. Only much later did I learn that it was a Paul Simon song, and it blew my mind. 😅
