Why can't Australian supermarkets harness AI in their advertising?

If I was crafting emails and app notifications and personalised offers for me, I would look through my purchase history, and go "This bloke has never bought anything pet-related, so he probably doesn't have a pet, so how about we never send him any pet-specific offers or specials…🤔"

instead of their current mindset of
"This bloke hasn't bought anything pet-related yet, so we're missing out on his dollars in that segment, so we need to absolutely saturate his feed with pet-related specials and offers until he starts spending his dollars on our pet products!"

Then, when they grasp the concept, they can apply it to my targetted ads for baby goods, alcohol, and parent-related marketing.
