I was curious about the Steam announcement of the new machine and controller, but when they announced the Frame, they had my attention (Django Unchained reference).

It's also kinda cool for Valve to be doing this when Google is trying to lock down Android. This also sounds like the same type of response that led to Proton when MS tried to lock down Windows in 2012.

Valve doing cool stuff like this is why I'm ok with them having such a large share of the PC gaming market as long as they keep doing helpful stuff. If things go bad and they stop funding this, the stuff they've done is at least open source, so it's not like it'll be lost forever but the loss of money would hurt.
