@FaithfullJohn They mention using a pusher plate in the article, but i wonder if there would be positives to using a higher-frequency variable source? The distances are small, attenuation shouldn’t be a huge problem.

Also if one can cobble together some cheap geophones with a gps header.

I do like the idea of optimising the approach to examine what most people see as noise , rather than optimising to filter it out..
