I think that if we shame people for stealing memes, it will make them less creative and the memes will be worse.

Nobody is just stealing the memes, they share the pictures they like, consistent with their taste, and with their creative captions. Sometimes captions make the meme.

I am for promoting copyright chaos, at least in the memes. Share everything you like and have as much fun as you can. Stop gatekeeping!​​

it just really depends what you do with your copyright. you can do evil stuff but you also can do good stuff.

and for memes: i would say they are created with the intention to share and if someone would want attribution they would make a watermark in a corner or something. (removing that intentionally would be not nice and that i would consider stealing)

then after a while it might come back and become funny again
