#Apple #BrokenGlass #UXDesaster

@cdfinder I happen to like it, but I wish execution was better. Apple used to be about playful fancy interfaces, executed well.

@gernot

While it may have some nice visual effects, the usability is a total fiasco, pretty much undoing everything we have learned in the last 20 years.

I really literally feel physical pain seeing and using it...

#BrokenGlass

@cdfinder I feel different about it. Could go into a long discussion, but that's already been done 1000 times. In the end there are some great ideas, and way too many rough edges. Also a lot of potential for misuse if poorly understood or implemented (but that’s true for every design system). I also see a lot of hate for it that's fueled by searching for ways to break it (also: can be done with every design system), and I see that users, myself included, react positive to the aesthetic aspects.
@cdfinder But overall I expect Dyes departure to have positive effects. If there’s a culture of perfectionism coming back to the design department, that can only be good. There's been too many „good enough“s and not enough "perfect“s. An excellent design system needs to aim for perfection, and can't leave the edge cases unattended.
@gernot And hopefully the massively ignored idea of usability can return.
What good is any design system when I cannot find the tools I need?
@gernot @cdfinder do you use it on the phone or pad? Or also mac?

@chbeer @gernot

Neither 😂

I tried both and still feel assaulted every time I have to use it again.

@cdfinder @gernot I‘m asking because I think it works quite well on iPhone, ok on iPad and not so good on large mac screen.

@chbeer @gernot

Good point!

One thing that is a massive problem for me is that the weird optical "watery" effects especially in iOS are causing massive migraines in me, and I really don't need any more of those... Sigh.

#BrokenGlass

@cdfinder @chbeer There is a setting, if you're getting migraines, you can turn that on.

@gernot @chbeer

I know, but it is not enough. iOS should come with a health warning...

@cdfinder @chbeer Oh come on, really, are you serious?
@gernot @chbeer oh yes, I am!
@cdfinder @chbeer I dunno, I think I don't believe you. Also constant negativity on social media have a health cost, too, and not a small one. At least that's my impression - it makes me angry.
@cdfinder @chbeer Sorry, maybe I am just too fed up with all that. People should relax more and rant less. While it's important to get things like a design system on a phone right, it's still pixels on a screen. And there is no lack of accessibility options if you need them.
