Lydia had almost given up hope. Kaline was a whisper of her former self and there had been no word from Dr. Verrick in weeks. But right when things seemed at their darkest, @VivianVerrick appeared in the atrium of the palace with a silver case in hand.

Could it be? The Duchess races down the spiral stair to the foyer, a cautious grin on her face. When the doc answers in the affirmative, Lydia throws her arms around her wife’s savior.

@PrincessLydia @KalineBillington “She’s not out of the woods yet, Your Royal Highness,” Vivian says while checking Kaline’s vitals on the machine’s readout, “This is just a first step. I’ll monitor her progress here and keep you updated. Your wife is a fighter, Duchess. She has one of the strongest spirits I’ve ever seen.” [x]
@VivianVerrick @PrincessLydia Kaline is barely conscious, still in the early stages of her recovery. Still unable to move her head or eyes, the faint sound of Lydia's voice makes the Countess hover her own hand out to hold her wife's.

@KalineBillington When Lydia next visits her wife, it is December 3rd, her birthday. She caresses her unconscious spouse's cheek as a tear falls down her own.

"I need you, Kaline... I can't do this on my own..."

@PrincessLydia The Countess brushes her thumb on Lydia's palm, and she gathers the strength to vocalize something that vaguely sounds like "Lydia".
