This iPhone is an antique. It has been in my family since 2023.
@maxleibman I’m still using the 12. I’m a “device hoarder”.
@Gargron @maxleibman The whole family upgraded from XRs to 16 pros last February. We had a good run. We are also an otterbox family so the phones never “break”, they just stop holding a charge.

Battery replacement. I upgrade every year, but my old phones move down the line to wife, daughter 1, daughter 2, then rando.

This year, my old iPhone 13 Pro Max goes to daughter 1’s boyfriend. iOS 26.1 + new battery equals new phone.

@davidhmccoy @patmikemid @Gargron @maxleibman this. A battery replacement is cheap and actually gives you a performance boost. At the VERY least, it’s much easier to sell a phone that has a new battery.

100% I have a problem with several of Apple’s recent actions, but I think you cannot sleep on their support. They wanted to run diagnostic on that 13 Pro Max and I said, “Skip it. Just the battery.”

She convinced me, ran it, and saw that Qi coil was not working. They replaced the entire back AND the battery at no charge. They once replaced a battery on an old iPhone 5 because of battery swelling. Free.

You can “drive” an iPhone into the ground.
