On our first day in #Edinburgh, we walked up to the ruins of St. Anthony’s chapel in Holyrood park. Fascinating ruins.

Some pics from around the castle. It was a long walk up the Royal Mile. I had a hard time not buying a ton of tweed…if I weren't flying without checked bags I would have come home with a jacket and waistcoat. #Scotland #Edinburgh

In #Edinburg there is a beautiful walk along the Water of Leith - it is quiet, and set down in a valley near the main part of the city. It briefly feels like you've left the city environment completely. Many of the buildings along this area are old and fascinating. #Scotland

On Rose Street in #Edinburgh, there are a LOT of pubs. Took a few pictures of some in the daytime. We didn't go to any on this particular street, but we did go to a few near the hotel, and we also did the tour at the Johnnie Walker place - I recommend it, even if you don't care for whisky (nobody's perfect). Plus the tour includes 3 drinks :) #Scotland

After Edinburgh was #Glasgow. What a wonderful city - I really enjoyed it, and it is such a short train ride from Edinburgh. The park along the river is beautiful, and there are plenty of pedestrian-only thoroughfares in the central part of town. #Scotland

More #Glasgow. There was a nice walkway next to the river Clyde. The water was still enough to have some wonderful reflections. #Scotland

More from #Glasgow. I particularly enjoyed the local embrace of the cone-head. #Scotland

Last of my #Glasgow film pics. I’m especially happy with the silhouetted cross - it reminds me of something that could be on a Black Sabbath album cover. #Scotland

Next up is #Islay. I would move there if I could - we stayed in a small guest house in Port Ellen. As soon as you get off the small prop plane you can smell the malt being peated. If you like Scotch Whisky this island is heaven. These pictures are from around Port Ellen.

Islay was also my wife and I’s first taste of driving on the opposite side of the road. Easy once you get past the initial shock!

Just West of Port Ellen on #Islay is Kilnaughton Beach and the Carraig Fhada lighthouse. I was enamored by the design of this, certainly unlike the lighthouses we have on the coast of our state (look up Cape Hatteras for a prime example). The square, blank, almost boring (but in a good way) design lent itself pretty well to the medium, I think. #Scotland

@kaiser_franz That's a very unusual lighthouse design for the UK, too. I've never seen anything like it!
