Zig migrates from GitHub to Codeberg - awful.systems

After ten years on GitHub, general-purpose programming language/toolchain Zig has jumped ship, citing severe CI headaches caused by crumbling infrastructure as the major reason why. The Zig Software Foundation hopes to see less violations of their strict โ€œno slopโ€ policy [https://ziglang.org/code-of-conduct/#strict-no-llm-no-ai-policy] from this move as well.

I have a mild preference for Rust, but this definitely encourages me to take a second look at Zig
zig is C with approximately everything it should have had, imo. The only thing that kind of sucks is that itโ€™s not 1.0 yet and big breaking changes do happen. The most recent one was a complete overhaul of the writer interface in 0.15.1.

Good news every time this happens.

Even better, this blog post is a great reference of the many reasons GitHub is shitty, becoming shittier, and everyone should abandon that platform.
