I'm not sure if TrueNAS is expecting hot swappable drives, but here's a question for the community...

I have a failing drive in a Z2 array.
It's not hot swappable.

Can I offline the drive in TrueNAS, power off and replace the drive physically, and then power the host back on and do it in software?

Or do i need to add the new drive physically, configure as a hot spare, and replace and remove the failing drive?

#TrueNAS

The short answer appears to be yes, i can just shutdown and yeet the failing disk.

Brought to you by replacing and resilvering on to the new disk after powering down, yeeting and replacing and rebooting.
