I got my laptop back! It came back yesterday. I'm back to babying it. Then again, it wasn't like I was rough or gross or anything. Updating my system felt like it took forever too. Which makes sense, because it's been nearly a month since the previous update.

FreeBSD strokes its goatee

@rl_dane @wyatt

FreeBSD has a goatee???? Dang, I need to try it out.

@amin @wyatt

Ok, DANG. Total mandela effect. I could have sworn that #Beastie had a goatee, but he totally does not.

Ok, then:

FreeBSD Strokes trident

Somehow, that's more threatening. XD

"UPDATE YOUR SYSTEMS OR ELSE"

@amin @wyatt

#FreeBSD 15 has some important changes. For one thing I think we're finally getting Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) support (I HOPE!).

They're also moving to a model where the base packages will be managed by the pkg package manager, rather than having a program to manage OS (base) packages and a separate program to manage add-on packages (pkg).

I HOPE there won't be any hiccups with that major change. :E

@rl_dane AFAIK the "upgraded" wifi is not stable enough to be in RELEASE (june annoucement). No info grabbed since, hope it'll change...

@scalonnec

Ah, well. We'll get it when we get it. ;)

Slow Wifi is an opportunity to chill out. XD

Heck, I remember being blown away with 45 KiB/s downloads at uni 33 years ago! ;)

@rl_dane I hope I'm wrong too, I was about to try the BETA but it'd be ridiculous to burn a DVD as RELEASE is about to go out πŸ˜
