I realized recently... I need to buy multiple copies of the notepad I keep on me to remind myself that it is meant as a scratchpad, and not some sort of Bible...
When I was busy with working for someone else, I used to keep a little scratchpad by my keyboard for daily notes ... stuff that would make no sense to future Bob... and it was very useful and helpful...
