@meeper I fully expect something like AWD for datacenters to form within the next year, and unlike AWD proper, I expect it to obtain at least some amount of mainstream sympathy among various disaffected groups of society instead of being a fringe group which mainly preys on the disaffected of the disaffected

@meeper Atomwaffen Division, one time American far right terrorist group of note. Their whole schtick while they were around was that they wanted to cause a societal collapse and one of the ways they would do that (on top of the usual shitfuckery you can expect of such people) was intentionally targeting power substations and nuclear reactors attempting infrastructural sabotage and trying to cause as much damage in the process as possible. They did actually target some of the former, and this combined with feds comprehensively infiltrating the group caused them to collapse in on themselves before they could accomplish much of anything. One particular offshoot is still around as 764 which, well, you're gonna have to Google for what that one does, bc I'm sure as hell not relating it here

@meeper they were but as I said a very influential one. they also kind of had a late war waffen ss deal going on where they were so desperate for manpower that they would compromise and take on any warm body they could find for the cause regardless of race sexuality or gender. this led to the odd situation where a strasserist guatemalan american trans girl (who tried hitting on me back in 2017, for all my well deserved reputation of ending up with crazy women, even I knew to stay miles away from her) ended up being one of their main propagandists online and irl. strange world we live in sometimes

@affine @meeper another unrelated trans girl I knew well, too unironically schizo for the above mentioned groups and never formally part of them, was nevertheless active on several white supremacist forums in the early 2010s and helped to push the (eventually commonly accepted, as you can see from the patch on the jacket in the second photo) forced meme of a red/brown alliance between terrorist elements of the far right and the DPRK

@affine @meeper needless to say, there's a lot of lore in my orbit I'm carrying to my grave, and the one real solace I have is that I was never *directly* involved in any of it, always just on the periphery, seeing all this nonsense go down while I only got moderately irony poisoned, looked in the mirror, didn't like what I see, and found God (thanks in no small part to a number of fedi people, you know who you are)

@affine @meeper Yeah, if you ever wonder why I wallow in the mire among people who might be classed as anime nazis or similar, this is one of the big reasons why. I'm always on the lookout for those like my former self to help pull out of it.
