I had a ride back from my DMV appointment by a lovely woman whose accent sounded like she was (or her family was) from India. We chatted. She's planning to visit relatives by air. I told her about Real ID being needed for flights. She said she'd better get one, and thought she'd go tomorrow. I mentioned that they said tomorrow was going to be busy, and that she should make an appointment. She thanked me, as she had not thought of it.
This was my day to be helpful. I was planning to go next week, but I saw I could get an appointment today, so I went for it. I'm glad I could point her in that direction.
She is also a good and cautious driver. Always drive defensively.
Despite having an appointment time, and getting there 20 minutes early, I waited until 20 minutes after my appointment time before it was my turn. Appointments were running 20 minutes late in general. There were plenty of walk-ins. Their pace for getting service was slower, though if an appointment was missed, someone got in.
Leave plenty of time, and do make an appointment, if you plan go to the DMV this week. No. It's not less crowded because of Thanksgiving. Quite the opposite.
