We were getting a small food delivery yesterday evening, I went to the door to pick it up, it felt very heavy so immediately realised we'd been given the wrong order, delivery guy obviously didn't know what to do. While we're talking, one of the cats runs outside. We're desperate to get her back because they're not allowed out front (traffic). She's incredibly difficult to retrieve, but after some coaxing I just grab her and toss her in the house. (1/3)

Meanwhile, I'm trying to explain to food delivery guy that neither of his orders were our orders and he's convincing us to take one because he has to leave.
So, I go back inside with someone else's dinner and one of our jet-black cats is acting incredibly weird, slightly hissy, a second jet black cat is hiding under the clothes rack (where they often like to hang out). Both of our cats have distinctive meows, so we're confused when after a few minutes we hear an unfamiliar squeaky noise. (2/3)

Turns out the cat under the clothes rack is not in fact ours but a totally random third black cat. We manage to locate our other black cat hiding upstairs under bed, obviously also confused by intrusion of new animal that looks exactly the same as her and her sister. So we have one cat too many, and £75 worth of pasta that we never ordered, but Penelope did. I'm sorry, Penelope. I'm sorry traumatised black cat, you were very docile for a creature that had just been abducted.

@aliide So, you gave the spare cat to Penelope and ate the pasta?
@g7izu after some apology cuddles we evicted the spare cat via the front door, and then had to spend about 15 minutes clearing enough shelf space in the fridge for ridiculous quantities of beef ragu
@aliide 😆 That's tonight sorted, then! Great story!
@g7izu thank you, it was extremely chaotic 😂
@aliide @g7izu Home cooking just seems much safer by comparison 😆

@g7izu @aliide

Better than giving the spare pasta to Penelope & eating the cat.

@g7izu @aliide

No, wait... 🤔

You eat spare cat, give pasta to Penelope..
No 🤦🏼‍♀️

You give the pasta to spare cat and eat Penelope!

@aliide
Good story.
Once our cat came home deep into the night (he could open the window by himself). We were in bed and I was relieved to hear that our cat was finally at home, eating his food in the kitchen. But then, on the other hand, I heard that he was under out bed, growling. A Schrödinger moment, kind of. Turned out it was another cat completely in the kitchen eating our cat's meal.
I loved him, but he was a loser, kind of. All kinds of things happened to him. He got lost eventually.
@svenvabar hahaha, that moment of realisation must have been very strange. I'm sorry he got lost, that's very sad. I hope he was found by someone nice
@aliide that is a lot for I've evening

@aliide what a day you had. 😂 Unrelated story but it reminded me when sometime during the summer we had our back door open since we like to cool down the place in the evenings when the temperatures are more tolerable. One night I was sitting on the couch watching tv and saw from the corner of my vision that something is moving by the back door. I look over and there’s a black cat just peeking inside and looking around the place. I called out to my spouse and the cat got spooked by that so they went back outside, but since the cat looked kinda hungry we went out to see where they had gone.

They were hiding under a planter on our deck and looking kinda scared so we went and brought the poor thing some tuna and grabbed the cat for safe keeping for the time being because the cat honestly looked like it’s not used to being outside.

While we were the wondering what to do next I happened to remember that there was a poster nearby that was recently put up about a missing cat so I checked the poster and sure enough the cat seemed to be the exact same cat. We called the number on the poster and shortly after the owner came to pick up their baby with many thanks. Apparently their cat, who normally is indoors-only, had decided about one or two days ago to go out and have a little adventure. The owner had been worried sick and were also just out placing some traps to hopefully capture the cat when we called her.

Me and my spouse have had cats before so we knew exactly what the owner was feeling and after that whole ordeal we’ve been thinking of maybe getting a new cat at some point. I mean I’m kinda allergic to cats but I also do like cats a lot so it might be that I just then get a truckload of antihistamines. 😅

@taxet glad you helped reunite them! Lost cat posters always make me so sad
