@sirlan @miakizz They are pretty good but they can not imitate the effect which your ears have on the sound depending on the incoming direction.

Though I've heard about scanning the ear with a camera in order to then skmulate the effect in sofrware.

@Segebodo @sirlan @miakizz some software also approximates it with the transfer function calculated for an average ear

i know minecraft has supported it as an official setting for a while and as an inofficial feature for a lot longer

but also i doubt this thing can give the same result as a good HRTF with headphones because it can't place the sound source physically directly in front or behind you, or above or below the horizontal plane at all, no?

@zuthal @sirlan @miakizz Oh lol, so far I only looked at the picture shown here and thought that they might have built a device which has multiple speakers around each ear. But actually you 're just supposed to lay it onto your shoulders.
