There's no rod trip like a neurodivergent road trip which starts 90 minutes late because we got distracted by this song my friend wanted to sign for me, then we had to go to the ATM because we forgot yesterday even though we mentioned doing just that at least 3 time! while out. Then we had to stop at the French Press coffee house for a pecan latte because our morning espresso infusions from 3.5 hours ago have been digested and we need top levels of caffeination for this day! But, we are on the highway now, I have loaded Callisto's harness with the emergency meds and we do have enough charging cables, granola bars, and vape pens to power an army. LETS DO THIS!!
@pawpower @evilbatwitch You have pecan lattes? 🤩
@onlinegoddess @evilbatwitch I live in Louisiana in the US, here, we have pecan everything because they grow here. It's delicious!
@pawpower @evilbatwitch Ooh, you're so lucky! I love pecans!
@onlinegoddess @pawpower same! I lived in Dallas for a while and learned to make pecan pie there with pecans from a friend's tree.

@evilbatwitch @pawpower We don't really do pecan-flavoured things here in the UK. You can buy them (not cheap!) and make your own, but that's about it. Oh, you can sometimes find pecan pastries at the supermarket, but they're not that nice.

Occasionally a restaurant will have pecan pie on the menu. Unfortunately, my favourite one closed because of covid back in 2020, their salted caramel pecan pie was lush!

@onlinegoddess @pawpower ohhh my GOODNESS! That looks amazing!
My husband was born and raised in Liverpool, and I think the first time he has pecan pie was a Thanksgiving about 10 years ago, when my oldest made one.

@evilbatwitch @pawpower I still miss it and it's been 5 years since they closed down lol.

We also don't do pumpkin pie over here. I've only ever had it once and that was thanks to an American work colleague who invited us to her Thanksgiving party.

Has your husband introduced you to anything distinctly British?

@onlinegoddess @pawpower lol BEANS ON TOAST. I add cheese. English Pancakes for Pancake Tuesday.
We went to the UK (London, Liverpool) in 2004. I ate scones, and real fish and chips, mushy peas, and Vindaloo! Had a difficult time getting coffee that wasn't instant. One time I asked for cream, and the confused waitress brought out clotted cream... We went to the Cadbury factory in Birmingham. Brought an extra suitcase for the 72 pounds of chocolate we bought.

@evilbatwitch @pawpower You've tried all the good stuff then! 😂

If you love chocolate and are out this way again, try something continental like Lindt. Or just go to Belgium lol - my son brought me back a bumper pack of artisanal chocolates when he went on a school trip.

@onlinegoddess @pawpower oh, we have Lindt here! Here's some horrible news, though. One of my brothers-in-law likes Hershey's, and it's y chocolate flavoured wax, at this point! 🤣🤣🤣
@evilbatwitch @pawpower I'm not a Hersheys fan, we actually call them little turds here lol. 🤣
