@aral “Hi, we went from nobody to the most used browser in a few years! Then Chrome came and completely destroyed us, just nuked us right back to the Internet Explorer days.
This is what Success looks like!
Instead of examining why that happened, and trying to build a real competitor to the spyware dressed as a browser that dominates the web, we are throwing everything we have behind the single worst technology since the nuclear bomb.
For Mozilla, the choice is clear. We choose stupidity. "
I honestly believe their board of directors welcomed that downfall, as in they willingly & knowingly boycotted Mozilla's ability to be truly independent and successful. There's a name for that: controlled dissent.
People don't usually remember these connections, but we have a clear line of succession that should make us think: Mosaic -> Netscape -> Mozilla -> Firefox.
Mosaic was co-created by Marc Andreessen. We already know how he likes to praise the founders of fascism.
Other Mozilla CEOs haven't been much better, another crystal-clear example was Brendan Eich, an open homophobe who even spent thousands of dollars to fight same-sex marriages.
Brendan Eich being CEO of Mozilla was no accident, he just made the mistake of showing us his true colours.
Add to that the fact that Google might be conditioning what Mozilla can and cannot do on Firefox (way beyond the choice of default search engine) by virtue of their "generous" payments.
TLDR: Contrary to the common saying... I don't think it's stupidity, but malice.
