The Psalm: #Luke 1:68-79

#Zechariah, filled with the Spirit, prophesied what sounds very much like a #psalm in response to the birth of his son #John

Zechariah blessed God for having visited His people with redemption, having raised up salvation for His people in the house of David, as promised by the prophets.

Through Him God would bring salvation from their enemies and showed mercy to the fathers, remembering His covenant with Abraham.

Israel would serve God without fear of their enemies through Him.

Zechariah then spoke of his child John, who would be a prophet and would prepare the way of the Lord, giving knowledge of salvation to Israel in the remission of their sins.

God has done this through His tender mercy, bringing a new dawn to Israel, to give them light in darkness, guiding them in the way of peace.

Why would we reckon Zechariah’s words as a psalm?
