Steam are trying to bridge PC and console gaming like how Nintendo Switch merged handheld and home console gaming. And I can't decide if that's spectacular or stupid.

On one hand, great gaming PC specs that's plug and play. Sounds awesome. Massively lowers the barrier to entry. Day one access to the largest games library. Transportable. And you can open those 153 Google Chrome tabs you'll definitely read one day.
On the other hand, isn't half the point of building your own gaming PC to...actually build it? Choose the parts. Decide the layout. Replace bits & upgrade. Standardising (and maybe stopping the configuration of) the gaming PC sounds like the most antithetical thing to PC gaming.
That Henry Cavill vid would hit different if he just checked out an online shopping basket.
I'm down for the Steam frame VR goggles though. Strap those robot panda eyes on my face NOW.
