We do. It’s called “Jazz”.
And we need more
I could stand for more jazz
There’s really not an upper limit.
Then may I introduce to you: Progressive Rock

Oh, I had never heard of prog or post-rock before.
And Artie Shaw (who the OOP is probably referring to whether he realizes it or not) has a huge discography where he just goes nuts on the clarinet.
You are right. Please though, no more scents or clothing lines attached to the music or artist. Let’s just enjoy it for what it is and not crank up the noisy marketing machine. Go Louis Prima!
it’s a shame how bass players are relegated to the background - that guy was amazing
I could barely hear the bass, probably my phone’s sound setting but still.
In most jazz records with an upright bass, the bass is mixed very low, which is basically in keeping with how it usually sounds live, even though the is almost always mic’ed. Goddamn shame IMO. Jazz with electric bass is usually better about this.

Have you heard of or Lord and Savior Vulfpeck?

No, we don’t.

Jethro Tull are close enough.

Nah, you’re thick as a brick.

Live recordings/performances of the Revivalists have this vibe! Their music that makes it to the radio is so sanitized.

As long as there’s enough cowbell…

One of my favorite parts about the legend, the goat, the man who literally invented Honky Tonk music, The Texas Troubadour Ernest Tubb, is when he goes:

“Aww Leon” *Leon Rhodes solo*

then immediately

“Now let’s hear you Buddy” *Buddy Emmons solo*.

And both are bangers and then he comes back in with his smooth ass voice to say something sad while sounding oddly happy.

It’s Honky Tonk not jazz so there’s not a clarinet to be found, but he do the callouts!

Do you have a recommendation on songs?

All of 'em! At least the hits though. Off the top of my head:

Waltz Across Texas Walking The Floor Over You Yellow Rose of Texas Just a Drink Away I'll Be There (If You Ever Want Me) Blue Eyed Elaine Thanks A Lot Saturday Satan Sunday Saint *(it's Christian but still a banger)* Women Make a Fool Out of Me Driving Nails in my Coffin (grand ol opry version on YT is my favorite).

Those are some of his biggest hits, there’s many other songs that are just as good. Also his work with Loretta Lynn is great too.

Van Halenhas a clarinet solo in “Could this be Magic” on Women and Children First.

Revolting Cocks - Get Down

7 minute guitar solo. Cut down from 54 minutes.

I think most people who commented here would enjoy a large helping of King Gizzard with a side of Lizard Wizards.
