I get that, but it’s unfortunately also an excuse for a lot of people
Edit: the story could’ve still been told, we could’ve still heard about her trauma and how it affected her, without resorting to pedo shit. That’s the difference between a good director and a pedo who happens to be directing
I get that. Also, apparently Jean Reno acted against the direction given by the director to allow for a character that wouldn’t take advantage of his situation, even if he intentionally played his character as an emotionally stunted man.
Reno’s acting choices made the movie better because he didn’t go down that pedo hole.
Just avoid the non-American version. It is a movie written by a pedo, for pedos. Some comes through still but apparently it’s not nearly as bad.
Seen it once, never watching again personally.
Yeah I was shocked at how different they were.
Just shows what good editing can do I suppose.
Still has enough pedo vibes to make it hard to suggest this film to others. Sucks, because outside of that it's a good movie with great acting from Oldman. Kind of like how Irreversible is also an excellent movie, if it weren't for the 9-minute long uncut/realistic rape scene.
Must be a French thing?
do you think a young girl from a broken household like that wouldnt be…weird…with strong protective figure like leon showing up?
leon doesn’t take advantage of her or anything, shoots down all her advances, the “relationship” is always protrayed as clearly unhealthy and something leon doesnt want
granted, i only watched the english version
I thought the same thing after seeing the American version, it just seemed like a understandable case of a childhood crush that Leon reacts to with equally understandable awkwardness.
Then I watched the director’s preferred version. It’s pedo bait and he’s a legally proven pedophile who “married” a child he met when she was 12 and who was pregnant and married by 16, end of story.
