A nonlinear game where your exploration is gated not by powerup pickups like a double jump but knowledge of the games workings or rules.
@vikxin @jk @mcc It's a kind of Metroidvania-like adventure game where progression is built on the player acquiring knowledge instead of in-game items.

@vikxin @jk @mcc I believe it's applied to thinky games with a gated open world. IE, Metroidvania design tropes but problem-solving has a much greater presence than combat. Knytt, Starseed Pilgrim, Animal Well, the Draknek catalogue, etc.
