Self-Hosting Pixelfed and PeerTube on Raspberry Pi 5 (Cloudflare Tunnel) and an external Hard Drive

This guide shows how to run Pixelfed (image sharing) and PeerTube (video platform) on a Raspberry Pi 5 (64-bit OS) using Docker Compose. The Be It Me Not You Commons
@beitmenotyou I need help. I am on a Pixel server. I wanna go back to the menu to make my own? How do I do that? Will I keep my username?
@dvdp clarify for me first when you say make your own are your referring to hosting your own pixel instance
@beitmenotyou Yes I meant hosting my own instance (iOS). When I downloaded the app. I joined the Pixelfed Instance instead creating my own because I donโ€™t know how to. Now I wanna go back to the menu and host my own Instance. Now I just wonder if I can keep my username and profile picture.

@dvdp You can keep the same username if you create your own instance, but there is a caveat: the URL will change.

For example, if I set up my account on Pixelfed, my address would be [email protected]. However, if I created my own instance with a custom URL, it would change to [email protected].

So yes, you can keep the same username and re-upload your profile picture (PFP). Additionally, you can redirect your old account to the new one to notify people of the change.

Please note that if you want to transfer all your photos to the new account, you will need to upload them again.

I hope this answers your questions and helps!
