We're disappointed that the new EU compromise proposal will implement a loophole that essentially brings back mandatory client-side scanning. #ChatControl is back. We strongly urge the EU to remove this loophole in Article 4 of the new draft.

My guess is that all the idiots with too much money have run out of things to invest in, which is why we see them basically trying to fabricate a massive AI industry, so they have something to invest in and grow the money they don't need to get more money.

I'd guess this scanning scheme is a way of entrenching AI so that the public is forced to have a "stake" and then there's a justification for governments to cover the losses when the bubble inevitably bursts.

@privacyguides fucking hell, are we gonna deal with this every three months now?

@privacyguides why is the poster graphic listing only three categories, collapsing "opposed/neutral" into one thing, as if "neutral" can't trivially become "in favour of" with a bit more money and lobbying?

Because when you're neutral about what is obviously gross overreach, what you're really saying is "we're perfectly fine with this passing", and that's just as big a problem as the countries that are already in favour.
