Winter #RanchoGordo #BeanClub shipment is here! The crimson popcorn is the best I have ever had, and the black eyed peas have me looking forward to 2026. But I will be devouring those black garbanzos tonight.

Every time I go to a friend's apartment, he makes beautiful beans and I ask, oh, Rancho Gordo? and he gets a tearful look and reminds me he has been on the Bean Club waitlist for 10 years. I was on the waitlist for 10 years! But I remember the pain. I don't mean to gloat, just to share.

Bean Club is not the only way to get RGs, of course, as they have a very fine retail website. Bean Club just means they charge you every three months for six bags of beans and a secret 7th thing (dried herbs or chiles, hot sauce, popcorn, hominy), and you're more likely to get one or two small-crop heirlooms that are not grown in quantities sufficient for retail. They also make great gifts if you can bear parting with them! My FIL is getting these cassoulets.

Ooh, these black garbanzos are a star. I made them with cabbage, sweet potato, garlic, etc with couscous.
