Building a membership page for the Institute. Trying to make benefits clear and straightforward, useful and fun. Trying to make sure that I have little access to data, and that messaging is only used 1-2 times a year.

Basically, all the things I want from a membership program.

Okay, think I have a membership page. It's the bare bones offering, but I think everything is there. I hope.

If you have the time / inclination, I'd love it if you cast your eyes over the page and let me know what glaring mistakes / omissions / issues I might have made.

Thank you.

@scattershot Didn't find any typos. Everything is nicely consistent and cohesive. Quite exciting really. Wish I didn't live in this shithole and was at least on a connecting continent. I'd join up and help out anyway I could.

@retech amazing, thanks for checking! Glad there's nothing blindingly obvious, that's good.

Loving your website BTW...

@scattershot Cheers. Upper right is an ambient sound button to enhance the feel. I hope you enjoy the trip through the alt universe.

I think getting indie book, record, antique, and other stores to be part of a mystery hunt would be beneficial for everyone. Cross discipline projects like yours have so much potential for engaging people. I'm seriously envious of where you go with it.

@retech

I'm going to leave it in the hands of the puzzlers to see how and where they take it. I'm gonna provide the books, the puzzles and the treasures and let them at it. I want everything to be offline, physical and tangible. What they do with everything is completely up to them.

I've got 9 treasure hunts planned out, a bunch of other different ideas on top of that, including collectibles, a choose your own adventure game, an album, and a way for people to engage more with libraries in the UK.

Any and all may or may not work, but that's part of the fun, right?

I just have to get my mailer out and my proof of concept out and I'll be in a comfortable place where I have walked the walk I've been talking for the last 6 months.

@scattershot Getting libraries involved is also an excellent facet. Big ambitious, nuanced work like this is risk but what a payout if any of it works.

@DarkSheepArts @cyberpunklibrarian This may be something of interest to you both. At least enough to spread the word.

@scattershot any good open source software proposal for similar use cases?

@Cloud68 I’m currently using the free (up to 1000 people) MailPoet plugin that integrates into WordPress. I guess the apps code is visible, probably not open source.

Will be moving over to https://mautic.org/community/ which is open source. I’ve used it before, can be complex, but will do everything you need it to.

Community - Mautic

Mautic
@scattershot #Mautic is lovely, open source and has a nice community behind it. It has a bit of a learning curve, but a nice tool once you use it a bit.
