trying to help someone figure out apple pay, it showed a menu of all their cards, you can scroll thorough, tap one they want ... nothing happens, after messing with it for a bit you see the text "double click to pay" (this text was previously obscured by the graphic of the card. in its default position, and in almost the dame color as the background) ok so double click the card icon, nothing happens still, .. give up and try again on another card reader .. same thing .. eventually i realize the mental gymnastics, they said "click" apple would never do that; try a bunch of random shit eventually; figure out they meant 'double click **the power button**' no it didnt say that or indicate it it barely even said to double click

remember kids it "just works" ..

(im glad i dont use this shit)

@Li you know usually they put in a little graphic that shows that they mean the side button, or just have the double click to [something] next to the side button

@randomhuman thatas not really .. clear? especailly when theres a ui open with things that read as clickable buttons on it ..

also "confirm with side button" is infinitely more clear and infinitely more informative tbh, they should say that everywhere instead (though, maybe it should also mention you need to double click it, "to confirm, double click side button" or something .. idfk

@Li in most situations they combine the two, making it much more obvious what they mean
@randomhuman yeah they definitely didnt do this .. the text was rendered underneath the card selection, like there was weird ass layering issues with the card graphics overlaying ontop of it, there was nothing at the bottom saying that either ..
@Li i'm unable to check how it looks in apple pay since that just automatically activates and tells me to hold the phone near the reader, but in older version of iOS they very much did not have the extra graphic telling you how you're supposed to use that
