‘Mind-captioning’ AI decodes brain activity to turn thoughts into text

A non-invasive imaging technique can translate scenes in your head into sentences. It could help to reveal how the brain interprets the world.

@susankayequinn So I came across this interesting article about public sentiment toward data centers I thought you'd like to see, and I came looking for an AI-related post of yours to reply to. Again, found one from within a day! 😂

@kateu ha! I'm consistent if nothing else. But also: the AI horror news is just relentless!!

Thanks for this article. I'd seen it pop up but hadn't gotten around to reading it.

@kateu

This is a really good article!

I think they shoved AI people hate into everything and then inadvertently gave people a physical thing they could focus their anger on.

Hahaha good luck with that

@kateu

It was very interesting to me when David Roberts, beloved Dr. Volts podcaster on clean energy, posted yesterday about how there was "nuance" in data centers and people need to have better understanding of it and... his very supportive audience (including myself)... just absolutely BURIED HIM.

People were not inclined to see the "nuance" in data centers. I think he was very very surprised. But I was not.

@susankayequinn I’m glad you liked the article too. I agree AI is a big part of why people don’t like data centers, and I think rising electricity costs and huge developments near neighborhoods are other big reasons.
@susankayequinn I was on a zoom with an AI notetaker. None of us would start our call until we got rid of it. The owner didn’t know how. Another guy said ask chatGPT. 🙄
Then he said there are good uses to AI—his example was getting good advice to replace a record player needle. 🙄🙄
There’s nuance! 😖
