Takopi’s Original Sin – Series Review

The series graphically depicts how abuse and neglect can break the minds of children, but it offers very little in the way of meaningful insight or solutions.

@animefeminist I could not disagree more, this show is a masterpiece, mainly because it looks so unflinchingly at the ugliness of poverty, patriarchy and child abuse and how they intertwine.

This review reminds me of the old observation that abuse is not taboo, but exposing it is.

@lalah Tony is an abuse survivor who's also worked as an activist with other survivors, and lists multiple shows about abuse they consider both raw and effective. It's wonderful that you found the series profound, but unfair to suggest an alternate appraisal comes from a position of ignorance and lack of desire to discuss the effects of child abuse.
@animefeminist I am not trying to imply the reviewer is a bad person, I am only saying that the way things are framed here really rubbed me the wrong way.
