Started using a safety razor and I’m kind of amazed and a bit sad I didn’t do this like 10 years ago
@reece they’re brilliant!
@drmikepj feels like a classic case where we actually had a pretty good solution to a problem and invented a worse solution that was probably more profitable
@reece so profitable, in fact, that it has become the eponym for this type of business - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Razor_and_blades_model

@drmikepj Its surprising more of these haven't been overturned with a slightly less pricey competitor
@reece What brand?
@reece @the1dlcguy They’re made here in Waterloo Region. I have one, and got one for each of my sons, too 😀
@reece Noice, I have one myself
@reece Right?! It's amazing. And so much cheaper for blades!

@reece I started collecting safety razors during Covid, discovered a whole subculture of collectors in Amazon reviews. It's hard to stop once you start, though I'm limiting myself to six ot seven now that I use in a weekly rotation.

I was telling a friend about it once and she looked totally horrified. I eventually realised that she thought I was collecting cut-throat razors and might accidentally kill myself!

@reece I've used an electric shaver for the last 7-8 years. It's the first thing I do every morning. It takes less than a minute, I can do it with my eyes closed when my eyes are still groggy with sleep and I don't want to turn on the bathroom light, and it doesn't make a mess.

Does it give as close a shave as a razor? No, but for me the difference is like 3 hours of growth so it really doesn't matter.
